Workshop for SLA Students: Maximizing Library Resources for SLA Research

Description: This session will cover strategies for finding and using relevant databases for research in second language acquisition, including the LLBA but also going beyond that using Education Research Complete, PsycInfo, MLA Bibliography, SocINDEX, ProQuest Dissertations, etc. The session will demonstrate use of controlled subject headings and thesauri to make searching more efficient; it will also discuss how to interpret results, find full text articles and determine if the UW Libraries has a journal available online. Time permitting, we will also demo how to set up TOCs and research alerts, and how to save or email citations and results. All are welcome! Questions? Contact Dianna Murphy.
