Sara Farsiu Receives Albert Markham Fellowship

SLA Program alumna, Sara Farsiu has been awarded an Albert Markham Postdoctoral Fellowship! Sara’s research project will address the impact of U.S. sanctions on the education of Afghan refugees in Iran. By foregrounding the voice of these individuals, she aims to open a window into the realities of the lives of marginalized ethnic minorities outside of the United States and Europe. She hopes this project will draw the attention of educational researchers and practitioners on the ongoing political conflicts in the Middle East to applying our knowledge to the solution of real-world issues.  Sara’s application for this postdoctoral appointment was supported by her dissertation advisor, Professor Katrina Daly Thompson. Congratulations Sara and thank you Katrina!
