Increasing Student Participation: Methods for Language Instruction
This interactive presentation will demonstrate ways to promote student participation and engagement in first-year language courses and beyond. We will consider the roles of particular activities, lesson structure, and classroom management.
About the presenter: Christine Evans is a doctoral candidate in German linguistics with a PhD minor in Second Language Acquisition. She has taught first- and second-year German courses for the Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic at UW–Madison and high-school credit courses at Concordia Language Villages. Christine has previously presented on pedagogical topics including the integration of international relations into language instruction and using social media for writing projects. This fall she holds a mentorship position to support new teaching assistants in the German program.
