I hold a B.A. in English Language and Literature and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Shiraz University, Iran. I am now a Ph.D. candidate in the Second Language Acquisition program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, working on my dissertation with a focus on ESL students’ writing practices and perceptions of themselves as writers of English. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have taught EFL/ESL to young and adult learners in Iran and the U.S. For several years, I have also taught academic writing in the UW-ESL program and Writing Center. Currently, I am the co-director of the Writing Center and ESL services at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) in Winston Salem.  I am also an experienced tutor for the enthusiasts of Persian language and culture. My research interests are language learners’ perceptions, English academic writing, second and foreign language acquisition, and sociolinguistics.
