My name is Aruzhan, and I am a Ph.D. student in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am from Kazakhstan and earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Foreign Philology (English) from Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, graduating with Honors in 2020 and 2022.

My research examines L2 and L3 acquisition, with a particular focus on the syntax-semantics interface and crosslinguistic influence in Kazakh-Russian-English multilinguals. I use experimental design and quantitative methods to investigate how multilingual speakers interpret scope, negation, and other interface phenomena in third language acquisition.
